The engineering services are related to the design of the Container Terminal of the Abu Qir Marine Port.
The project includes:
- a new container terminal featuring a 1.2 kilometres wharf with a lateral average depth of water over cill equal to -17 mCD and approximately 60 hectares of storage area;
- an access channel and navigation area of -17.6 mCD, as well as a turning basin with a diameter of 700 metres, also at the level of -17.6 mCD;
- a breakwater structure;
The scope of the project covers the following activities:
Marine construction:
the demolition and disposal of existing maritime structures; wharf facilities; miscellaneous installations, including: electrical, water bunkers, etc., and other associated equipment;
dredging operations to be undertaken for the new wharf, access channel, turning basin, and breakwaters; an artificial catchment basin adjacent to the wharf and soil treatment facilities; and additional breakwater structures.
Earthworks:
the removal and disposal of any hazardous materials; the demolition of existing structures; the paving of the access road with road markings; a new entrance and exit gate with gantries and structural equipment; container yard facilities; internal carriageways and connections to the existing road system; additional ancillary works including drainage, HV and LV power supply and distribution, ducting and communication towers, the water supply and lighting systems, including the electrical substations; surveillance, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system; fire-fighting installations; the workshop and the connected rubber-tired gantry crane (RTGC) maintenance platform; the fuel plant; drainage; improvement of the existing utilities and road connection and provision of a new parking and manoeuvring area for buses; underground conduits and utility holes for the electrical RTGC systems.
