Port of Marina di Carrara: New mooring dolphin for a large cruise ship

Client: Marina di Carrara Port Authority

Services in this project:
  • Preliminary design
  • Definitive design
  • Final design

The project includes the following interventions:

  • The Taliercio Quay extension, with the aim of creating new berths and yard spaces in order to guarantee correct port operations even in the case of simultaneous presence of cruise ships and bulk carrier units;
  • The reconfiguration of the vertical profile of the quay services head to guarantee the necessary spaces for the manoeuvring in entry and exit from the port, in safe conditions, of the design vessel;
  • The installation of a breasting dolphin at a distance of about 60 m from the current limit of the Taliercio Quay for the safe mooring of cruise ships.

The operations to extend the Taliercio Quay and the 'verticalization' of the quay head are configured as infrastructural adjustment interventions, both aimed at improving the usability of the port and the coexistence of commercial and cruise traffic already in place
