Vodafone has moved into the landline telephone market in Italy with the objective of offering its services in the Unbundling Local Loop (ULL) mode, which means making use of the existing copper infrastructure.

The service provider immediately identified the DBA Group as the ideal partner to provide the necessary technical support. It entrusted us with all the preparatory activities, as well as the management and control of the development of the network.

Using our expertise in TLC and project management, we began by conducting extensive due diligence to examine and survey the control centre and network infrastructures.

Inspections, document reviews, identification and mapping of the connections of each DSLAM, analysis and verification of the WDM + SDH architecture, solutions based on metropolitan DWDM networks, mixed solutions and/or based on the use of transmission links to transform existing DSLAM solutions into remote ones, and the definition of the implementation methods for the network connection were the primary and fundamental services required to complete this important project and to lay the foundations for successful and reliable future maintenance and operations management.

The next step we managed was the design and network integration of the control centres by supporting Vodafone's technical organisation in the definition of guidelines, technical documents, and the final execution design of the transport and access equipment to be implemented in the centre (DSLAM, SDH, DWDM, etc.).

With an extensive organisational structure in terms of expertise and geographic coverage, we managed the entire project life cycle through a series of services such as Project Management, Technical Secretariat and Quality Monitoring, progress and activity reporting, verification and updating of control centre documentation, analysis of the Telecom Italia feasibility study for the delivery of new control centres, relations with Telecom territorial offices, on-site inspection for SGU delivery, SGU access request management, execution design, installation management, commissioning and testing of equipment, activation and loading of data into the Client's inventory systems, management and control of the connection of fiber optic exchanges and PoPs, maintenance of the exchange resource database and the monitoring of the maintenance and evolutionary state of the system.

At all times, Vodafone was able to count on the specialised services of DBA PRO, which made its resources and organisational support available throughout the project. DBA PRO adapted its model numerically and technically to the variability and flexibility of the roll-out, creating a reliable single interface between its internal organisation and all the stakeholders involved in the roll-out process to ensure the effectiveness of the overall programme.

DBA PRO was also given the privilege and the responsibility of managing third parties and Vendors/System Integrators by managing and coordinating all their activities, know-how and technical expertise.
