Fusina Port: Electrification of the Berths

Client: AdSP del Mar Adriatico Settentrionale

Services in this project:
  • Preliminary design
  • Final design

The project involves the electrification of three of the four berths at the Fusina Terminal, used for Ro-Ro ship docking.

In partnership with Galileo Engineering Srl and Ing. Volontè, we have developed the definitive and executive design of the works on behalf of the business consortium composed of Gemmo S.p.A., Nidec ASI S.p.A., and FINCANTIERI SI S.p.A.

The design includes:

  • The AT/MT electrical substation for energy extraction from the RTN, with a total available power of 40MVA
  • The technological buildings containing:
    • MT/BT transformation equipment
    • Three 5MVA frequency converters
    • All the electromechanical components supporting the system
  • The infrastructure needed for the distribution of electricity from the substations to the berths under intervention
  • Specific components for the ship-to-shore interface (Junction Box & CMS) in compliance with IEC 80005-1 standards.

This is a key intervention for innovation and sustainability at the Venetian maritime terminal, located in the iconic setting of Venice and its lagoon.
