TRANSPORT & LOGISTICS: THE OUTER DAM OF TARANTO PORT

In April, the Port Authority of the Ionian Sea – Port of Taranto had entrusted our subsidiary SJSEngineering with the works direction and safety coordination during the execution of the works for the new outer dam to protect the port. Now it has published the call for tender for the works, including all the necessary dredging activities and the environmental monitoring.
The breakwater is 500m long, the project also covers the dredging of the seabed and the use of natural and artificial boulders to adapt to the geotechnical characteristics of it. The project meets the objectives of environmental sustainability and optimisation of the consumption of natural resources. It is the first outer dam in Italy designed in BIM (Building Information Modeling) in 2019 by SJS Engineering Srl.
